About the event

Join us for an enlightening session on palliative care and pain management, focusing on its role as an alternative to Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). Discover how palliative care addresses physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, enhancing the quality of life during the end-of-life journey.

Participants will engage in  sharing funny and amusing moments from their lives, promoting healing and resilience.

Here's how the activity will unfold:

  1. Reflect on funny memories from childhood or adulthood related to the broader theme of MAiD.
  2. Choose a funny moment to share with the group, focusing on its context and why it's memorable to you.
  3. Embrace nostalgia and laughter, recognizing humour as a coping mechanism in challenging situations.

Activity Worksheet:

Recall humorous moments in your lives and consider how laughter has helped cope with difficult situations.

Reflect on the impact of humour on emotional well-being and resilience, especially in relation to end-of-life discussions.

Discussion Questions:

How has humour helped you navigate discussions or experiences related to MAiD?

Can you recall a moment when laughter promoted connection during discussions about end-of-life care?

In what ways do you incorporate humour into your self-care routine, especially during difficult circumstances?

  • Open to all - including those who are considering/pursuing, supporting someone choosing, grieving a MAiD loss, and/or professionals/volunteers
  • Sessions are facilitated on Zoom by trained volunteer(s)
  • No counselling is provided and participation is voluntary
  • No cost – suggested donation of $5 per person is appreciated
