

Volunteer Opportunities

We are looking for people who have lived experienced (personal or professional) supporting an individual through MAiD to facilitate drop-in grief group sessions and/or 10-week structured grief support groups.

Volunteers must:

Be at least one (1) year after their family/friend had an assisted death

Have demonstrated knowledge of MAiD in Canada and an appreciation of concepts of health equity, diversity and inclusion, as well as personal autonomy

Have excellent listening and interpersonal skills are required

Maintain clear boundaries around grief and can describe what that means for them personally
An interview is required for suitability for the role​.

Previous experience working as a support provider in a health care environment is helpful, but not required.

Level of involvement is at your discretion and can be discussed with the coordinators

Time commitment varies (one hour/month to one hour/week)

Coordinator and facilitator work together to determine timing and frequency of your involvement

Training, including an outline and script for facilitators, and follow up with coordinators is provided
