About the event
Join us for a session focused on asserting personal autonomy and decision-making rights, especially in the context of medical assistance in dying (MAiD). Learn strategies to express and defend your choices with confidence while respecting differing perspectives.
Participants will engage in a nature reflection activity to connect with their thoughts and feelings about end-of-life care and decision-making. Here's how the activity will unfold:
- Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a peaceful natural setting, such as a forest, beach, or mountainside. Â
- Envision the sights, sounds, smells, and sensations of this virtual nature experience. Â
- Reflect on how this virtual nature experience makes you feel and what thoughts or emotions it evokes in relation to the topic of medical assistance in dying.
Activity Worksheet:
How does the tranquility of nature connect with your thoughts and feelings about end-of-life care and decision-making? Â
What elements of nature symbolize concepts such as autonomy, dignity, and acceptance in the context of medical assistance in dying? Â
How can nature experiences offer comfort or perspective when contemplating difficult decisions about death and dying?
- Open to all - including those who are considering/pursuing, supporting someone choosing, grieving a MAiD loss, and/or professionals/volunteers
- Sessions are facilitated on Zoom by trained volunteer(s)
- No counselling is provided and participation is voluntary
- No cost – suggested donation of $5 per person is appreciated
