About the event
Join us for a comprehensive session exploring the legislative framework and ethical considerations surrounding medical assistance in dying (MAiD). Gain insights into eligibility criteria, safeguards, and the role of healthcare providers.
During the session, participants will engage in a music therapy activity to explore the role of music in providing comfort and support during the MAiD process. Here's how the activity will unfold:
- Explore the role of music in providing comfort during challenging times, such as the MAiD process.Â
- Share experiences with using music for emotional support.Â
- Select 3 songs that provide comfort or make you feel good during difficult times.Â
- Add songs to the collaborative playlist (Zoom chat) and discuss why they provide comfort or uplift.Â
- Reflect on the significance of the playlist as a source of support during the MAiD journey.
Activity Worksheet:
On a blank piece of paper, add the title and artist/band/genre of the 3 songs you would like to add to the collaborative playlist. Â
In the "Reason for Selection" column, briefly explain why you chose this song and how it makes you feel comforted or uplifted during challenging times, such as the MAiD process. Â
Share your worksheet responses with the group and add your selected songs to the collaborative playlist. Â
- Open to all - including those who are considering/pursuing, supporting someone choosing, grieving a MAiD loss, and/or professionals/volunteers
- Sessions are facilitated on Zoom by trained volunteer(s)
- No counselling is provided and participation is voluntary
- No cost – suggested donation of $5 per person is appreciated
